Assessment in the UK

In the UK, adult ADHD is diagnosed by a specialist (usually a psychiatrist) after a detailed assessment. Your GP is normally the starting point.

You can talk to your GP about your experiences. They may refer you to a specialist service. Waiting lists vary widely across the country.

In England you may have the right to choose which provider assesses you under NHS Right to Choose — ask your GP.

Online questionnaires, including anything in this app, can't diagnose ADHD.

Treatment options can include medication, psychoeducation, coaching and talking therapies. Medication decisions are made with a specialist.
